'Lake Viljandi'
110x150 cm
Maybe eight thousand years ago shores of Lake Viljandi looked a bit like this ?
'Oossaar'
110x150 cm
Real place in West Estonia. Narrow strip of gravel, more than two km long, six seven m wide. About one km from the shore.
'Edges'
100x120 cm
I used quite big brushes for this painting and painted it quickly. There is one cat to be found.
'Bridge'
50x70 cm
There is a lot of golden paint in under layers. Hard to notice on the photo, should be looked at in person.
'Golden Seams'
100x140 , 100x70 cm
This is one of my favorite paintings, quite big with subtle grey tones - i tried hard to take a photo. The best is to look at it in reality. There are tiny seams of gold inside the rock. Can be found only on close look.
'Fisherman'
80x80 cm
One dreamy fisherman. Riverbank like this cann't be found around Viljandi. This is my favorite painting on this exhibition.
'Feet in Water'
100x100 cm
Remembering hot summer some years ago. Had to walk to the beach for cooling down at midday.
'Hikers'
60x80 cm
Memory from Lappland, connection with Viljandi county is that iceage meltwater worked with landscape the same way.
Exhibition 'Ancient Valley’ - Hotel Schloss Fellin, Viljandi, Estonia Aprill – September 2024
Detailed info about paintings can be asked from hotel reception. Also : info@roosimolder.ee
First time visiting Schloss Fellin newly renovated rooms an idea came to me - some seascapes are suitable for these walls. As there are many more good spots for exhibiting paintings i did some different themes too. I adore spacious, vast landscapes. As Estonia is quite flat you can find a place vastness isn’t main theme. On hilly valley area surrounding Viljandi one can feel the vastness for sure. This is the thing i’d like to convey on my paintings, vastness. Therefore i planned one bigger painting for this exhibition where i try to depict (imagined) Viljandi area almost ten thousand years ago. It’s a bit of a a goal. When quite recently in geological terms the ice cover was disappeared and landscapes were more widely open. Tree coverage wasn’t the same for sure. Imagining about this time gave a headline for the exhibition – ‘Ancient Valley’ ( Urstromtal according to Wikipedia )
Big thanks to Viktor Siilats who kindly offered these walls for exhibition. Hotel executive managers were very helpful too.
